Careers
Small team. Honest about what that means.
We do not have open salaried roles right now. When we do, they will be listed here with the actual compensation range.
Freelance writing
We commission freelance pieces across all our verticals. We pay for work, we pay on publication, and we credit writers by name.
What gets commissioned:
- A specific, answerable question rather than a topic.
- Something you actually know about, from doing it rather than reading about it.
- Service journalism a reader can act on the same day.
What does not:
- Generic round-ups assembled from other articles.
- Anything written to rank rather than to be read.
- Pitches that are really an advertisement for a client.
Pitching
Email editor@cityboymail.com with a one-paragraph pitch, the angle, and two links to previous work. Not a finished draft — the pitch tells us more.
Read the editorial standards first. They describe how we source and disclose, and pitches that already fit that shape get read faster.
