Editorial standards
How the work gets made, where the money comes from, and what we do when we get something wrong.

Who writes here
Every article carries a real byline. Pieces attributed to CityBoy Staff are written and edited by the CityBoy editorial desk — that is a house byline for team-produced work, which is standard practice, and it is never used to disguise an advertiser.
We do not invent authors. We do not fabricate credentials, and we do not claim expertise we do not have. Where a piece requires genuine specialist knowledge, we either bring in someone who has it and say who they are, or we tell you plainly what the limits of the piece are.
Sourcing
Factual claims are sourced, and where a source exists online we link to it in the Sources block at the foot of the article. We do not publish statistics we cannot attribute. If we cannot verify a number, we leave it out rather than round it into something that sounds authoritative.
Advice is not professional advice
CityBoy covers money, fitness and other areas where the right answer depends on your specific circumstances. Our articles are general information. They are not financial, legal, medical or tax advice, and they are not a substitute for a professional who knows your situation.
Commercial disclosure
We make money in ways that could create a conflict, so here is exactly how:
- Advertising. Display advertising appears on editorial pages and is clearly labelled. Advertisers have no input into editorial coverage, and no advertiser sees a piece before it publishes.
- Affiliate links. Some articles contain links that earn us a commission. Those pieces carry a disclosure at the top. A commission never determines whether we recommend something — if the cheaper option is better, we say so.
- Sponsored content. If a piece is paid for by an advertiser, it is labelled SPONSORED at the top and is not presented as independent editorial.
- Our own product. We publish a men’s magazine and we also sell email addresses. CityBoyMail promotional units inside articles are house advertising for our own product, and they look like what they are.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and we say we fixed it. Substantive corrections are noted on the article itself with the date. We do not quietly edit a published claim out of existence.
Found an error? editor@cityboymail.com. Tell us what is wrong and, if you can, what the correct information is.
Updates
Service journalism goes stale. We revisit practical guides and mark the update date on the article when the substance changes. A changed date means the content changed — we do not refresh dates to game search rankings.
What we will not do
- Publish pages that exist only to rank in search and not to be read.
- Generate large volumes of thin, near-duplicate content.
- Invent reviews or testimonials.
- Present advertising as editorial.
